My friend suddenly said that there is an interesting opportunity for better design in the non-critical medical device market. I agree with his opinion with all of my heart. I believe that healthcare reform should be started from non-critical medical field. For example, if we can make a large information platform used by a lot of people in non-critical field, if it is easy to use, if it can be accessed by any devices securely and if it is held by patients (there can be other requirements though), it can take electronic health record inside.
It’s because Japanese healthcare system is catastrophically rigid, hard to use and there are crowded standard. It was excellent system but it can’t respond to change. We can’t make an innovation for medical system any more from inside of it. It needs destructive innovation from outside.
